We say "Good-bye" and "Hello! Hello! Hello!"

Band welcomes new band mates and sends best wishes to sax player

We are sad to say farewell to our baritone saxophonist, Andrew Reed. However, we are also happy for his landing of a great job position!  He provided us great improvised lines and a wonderful attitude.  We wish him well in his young career and recent marriage!

We are excited to welcome 3 to the band!

Deelylah Mullin, from Freeland, has decided to step fully into the baritone saxophone part. She has been a part of the band as a substitute and has helped us prepare for a few gigs, including competition.  We're looking forward to having her on-stage with us.

Russ Kalso from St. John's has been with us the last month on bass, even going to competition with us.  He has been a quick study, has a great ear, and provides showmanship and enthusiasm.

Michael Zak of Bay City joined us in rehearsal for the first time last week.  He picked up the drum sticks and stepped right into the role of drummer quite well.  We are trying each other out just yet, but Mike does seem a great fit for us.

23 North: Uncorked!

A great crowd came out to the first event of the 2015-16 season of the Uncorked Series at the Saints & Sinners Lounge within the Midland Center for the Arts, Thursday, September 3rd!  We appreciated the generous support of our audience in this fine venue!

Wanted: Bass Player

Our search for a bass player is underway.  Unfortunately, health concerns have made it difficult for our original bassist/lead vocalist, Randy Urchick, to continue with the band.

While we would love to have a bass player who can sing the blues too, singing is not a requirement. Monique Ella Rose, Eric Johnson, and Kris Goodwin will continue to take on lead and background vocals.  We cover songs from a wide-range of blues artists with forays into jazz and funk. Our horn section distinguishes us from most blues bands allowing for extra musical texture and energy.  Developing original material is another interest of the group.

Who we are:
We're a mix of music-educated (some music educators), songwriters, arrangers, vocalists and instrumentalists. Though we're only approaching our first anniversary as a band, many of us have performed in the music scene for years. Our band members strive for top-notch performances no matter the gig.  So far we've enjoyed playing out at benefits such as Saginaw On Stage (as well as for specific locals we've wanted to help out), at venues like the Uncorked Series at Saints & Sinners Lounge, as well as at Slo' Bones Barbecue, and the Eagles Club in Midland.  We aim to play in blues competitions and to perform at festivals, private events, and other events as we become aware of them.
